How Stress is Affecting High Performers in UAE 2022

As the end of the year draws closer, it’s prime time to reflect and learn from the year that’s past as we enter anew.

In 2022, we surveyed 232 high-performing employees and entrepreneurs in the UAE.

We’ve discovered key insights including the:

  • Main reason why high-performers are burning out

  • Life areas most impacted by stress

  • Highest Rated Stress Related Problems Effecting Wellbeing

  • Obstacles Stopping High-Performers from Overcoming Stress

A recent Cigna Wellbeing 360 report stated that 98% of respondents in the UAE had at least one symptom of burnout. We wanted to even dig deeper with our survey and find out what’s behind these statistics.

Our data shows the main reason they were facing burnout is because they were ‘Unsure of What to Do’

66% said they didn’t recognise the signs and by the time they realised how much their stress was affecting them it was too late, they didn’t know what to do to come back from it.

By the time they’d tried what they did know, they were completely burnout.

As a result:

  • 56% said their careers were suffering,
  • 51% said their health was negatively impacted
  • 51% noticed a decrease in their finances
  • And 51% said that in addition to the above, relationships began to suffer too.

Alongside impacting key life areas, these high performers were struggling with a wide range of stress related problems.

The Top 3 Stress Related Problems Affecting Wellbeing were:

1.  Overthinking, negative thinking or intrusive thoughts

2.  Anxiety or nervousness (Unable to focus, forgetful, nail biting, crying, fidgeting)

3.  Physical symptoms (Low energy, gut issues, headaches, tension, chronic pain)

When asked, “what’s stopping you from being able to overcome your stress?” they identified the following obstacles:

After working with hundreds of clients over the last 35+ years to eliminate unhealthy stress and leverage their wellness, we know deeply, high performers want to thrive.

They want to make their mark on the world.

They want to laugh until their belly hurts

They want to love until their hearts explode.

They want to handle the challenging days like a boss.

And they want effect positive change in the world.

The idea of being in the top 1% of people who’re making a difference for themselves, their loved ones and the greater good, lights them up.

Which is why this year, we’ve been building a brand-new free assessment tool for high performers who are tired of being a statistic like these surveys have shown.

Our ‘Stress-Less and Thrive More’ Scorecard is designed for high-performers who are looking to get a clear picture of how to optimise their wellbeing and nip unhealthy stress in the bud once and for all.

.

The scorecard will measures against 3 Levels of Stress, so you can understand and assess:

Simply, answer 16 questions in under 2 minutes and your customised results will be generated.

Along with your results you’ll get recommendations with steps you can take to improve your stress scores and move you closer to your goal.

Oh, and did we mention it’s free?
